SELECTING SUMIMARK® TUBING
The SUMIMARK® Marking System is capable of printing on a wide range of heat-shrinkable tubing types including general purpose polyolefins, dual wall tubings, high temperature PVDF and fluoroelastomers. Sumitomo tubing is made to the highest quality standards in the industry, SUMIMARK® tubing, in addition to providing strain relief and insulation, also provides an excellent surface on which to mark.
Tubing is supplied on continuous spools and is cut by the SUMIMARK® Marking System, allowing you to create the exact length of marker you want without waste. This feature alone can result in tremendous inventory savings. Diameters from 3/64 of an inch to 2 inches are available with shrink ratios of 2:1 and 3:1. There is minimal longitudinal change after shrinking, so your marks will not become distorted when installed.
Tubing and marking ribbons come in multiple colors, giving you countless possibilities for customizing and color-coding your product.
SETTING MARKER PARAMETERS
The SUMIMARK® Marking System is a computer controlled, thermal marking system. On screen menus guide you easily through set-up and printing. As you create your marker, you will see it on screen as it will appear when printed (WYSIWYG). You can save the marker or wire list for use at a later time. Import features allow for downloading of all files so that existing wire lists created in most standard database programs can be used with little modification.
The SUMIMARK® Advanced Software is Microsoft® Windows® platform based and can be made available in any language for which there is a Windows® operating system. Windows® Operating Systems are available in many major languages such as Japanese, German, French and Spanish.
You will be able to easily create text, bar codes, sequential numbers, graphics and logos or mix and match any of these to create a completely customized marker. The design of your marker is virtually unlimited. Scanned images, bit maps, or any True Type font or style you desire can be used to create your mark. This together with superior resolution offers you the best automated marking system for heat shrink tubing available today. Markers can be created up to 29 inches in length in 0.1 inch increments. You can also adjust the system to fully cut your marked tubing, partially cut it for kitting or not cut it at all. Partially cut and uncut tubing can be respooled automatically as it is marked.
STARTING THE MARKING SYSTEM
The SUMIMARK® Marking System marks tubing at speeds of up to 3 inches per second. No warm-up or set-up time is needed, so you are ready to print as soon as you create or retrieve your marker or wire list. The total elapsed time for the creation and printing of a standard alpha-numeric type mark is less than one minute.
The system produces a dry, permanent mark that can be handled as soon as it is printed. After recovery, our printing meets the tough mark permanence requirements of SAE-AS81531 for both abrasion and solvent resistance. But unlike other automated marking systems, no permatizing or other special process are required, and the physical properties of the tubing are not affected by the process. As soon as your tubing is printed, it is ready to use.
